Maintaining Dental Hygiene Habits this Holiday

Posted .

Holiday travel, setting decorations, finding that perfect gift, and going to parties: the holidays aren’t the laidback time they seem to be! As you’re taking the time to enjoy this season, we hope that you continue practicing your oral hygiene routine to maximize the wellbeing of your teeth and gums. Here are some additional tips to keep you on track during the holidays:

Of course, as the saying goes, don’t forget to pack your toothbrush! Keeping a vacation toothbrush, a small bit of floss and a tube of toothpaste in your toiletries kit should be a number one priority year-round. Take three to four minutes at the end of each day to brush and floss your teeth; you’ll be happy you did when you don’t have to get oral fillings! (If you have guests visiting, try leaving a few tubes of new toothpaste in the bathroom they’ll be using.) If you have a dental appointment scheduled during the holidays, ensure to keep it by scheduling your other to-dos around it. You won’t be able to enjoy the holidays to their maximum with painful teeth. Finally, watch out for excessively sugary foods like juices, candies and some alcohols that can dry out your mouth and build plaque.
